Web 2.0 is a TERM (not actual sotware). It describes the way people now use the internet, most notably, collaboration among users. It includes many new technologies compared to standard web page posting.

Designing a Public Web Site as a Classroom Project...and Teaching Undergrads How to Do Historical Research at the Same Time

I came across a new website that Bill Cronon created to help him teach historical research skills to undergraduates. What I particularly like is that it's an example of how technology can be used as the centerpiece for course redesign and scholarship--that is, both as the process and content for this course. Additionally, Bill describes the story of how he and his graduate students created this site as the focus of their own semester-long project.
